Idol Worship and Human Sacrifice in Modern Times: Does it still happen?

Scooby Doo has convinced us that demons and Idol Worship are just a figment of our imagination and not prevalent in our modern day. Fables and Fiction rewrapped in the name of entertainment, or Greek Mythology studied as a child is a rite of passage in America. It is just make believe we are told.

As culture has changed, and traditions evolved, idol worship, and human sacrifice has been repackaged, to be more palatable for the 21st century. Many, do not realize they are financing, and consuming it. Believers read the bible, and if they make it to the Old Testament, they read of idol worship and skim over it without much thought. The Ten Commandments speak of not having any idols before them, and they assume as long as they are not bowing down to a golden cow, they are good.

Leviticus 18:21 You are not to present any of your children to Molech as a sacrifice. That way, you won't defile the name of your God." "I am the LORD.

Human Sacrifice was prevalent in bible times, and is just as present today in the form of abortion. If you are a Christian, pro-life, and vote accordingly, have you kept yourself from all involvement with abortion? No. Sex, Money, and Convenience are a few of the gods, children are sacrificed to.

Your taxes against your will, go to fund abortions.
Your private investments go to abortion.
Charities you donate to, give money for abortions.
Your private purchases for household items go to funding abortions.
Medicine you have injected or purchased either have been tested on murdered children, or actually have parts of aborted babies in them.

Should you be worried about this?

Genesis 4:10-11 He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground. Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand."

Every drop of blood from a victim of murder cries out for justice, and God requires it. It is in his word. Just as he defends you, he defends the helpless, orphans and widows. God does not excuse ignorance on our part.

Hosea 4:6-7 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.

We are not to partake of anything connected to idol worship.

1 Corinthians 10:28 But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," don't eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For "the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness."

Acts 15 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well."
 

I have previously written on corporations that donate to Planned Parenthood, and have posted videos with the evidence of the brutality of abortion. A boycott for a Christian is an imperative. Removal of anything associated with the sacrifice of children to the God of money, science, or sex is what will keep judgement off of our land, and our hands free from the shedding of innocent blood.

.Our best model to follow is the king that served God completely. Many see David as the perfect king. Yet, Josiah was the one that the bible says "Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did--with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses." 2 Kings 23:25

2 Kings:22 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. His mother’s name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah; she was from Bozkath. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah sent the secretary, Shaphan son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, to the temple of the Lord. He said: “Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him get ready the money that has been brought into the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers have collected from the people. Have them entrust it to the men appointed to supervise the work on the temple. And have these men pay the workers who repair the temple of the Lord—  the carpenters, the builders and the masons. Also have them purchase timber and dressed stone to repair the temple.  But they need not account for the money entrusted to them, because they are honest in their dealings.”Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord.” He gave it to Shaphan, who read it. Then Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him: “Your officials have paid out the money that was in the temple of the Lord and have entrusted it to the workers and supervisors at the temple.”  Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

1When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Akbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king’s attendant: “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Akbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to speak to the prophet Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the New Quarter.She said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Tell the man who sent you to me,  ‘This is what the Lord says:

I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read.  Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all the idols their hands have made,my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.’  Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard:  Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place." So they took her answer back to the king.

Chapter 23 starts out with Josiah reading the word of God which had been forgotten to the entire people. He made an oath to God, and the people agreed. He then set out to remove every hint of the worship of other gods. Every hint! He researched every hill and cursed place to ensure it was defiled and could not be a place for evil. He ensured (vs 10)  "that no one could make his son or daughter pass through the fire to Molech." He removed all the spiritist and guides that had led the people astray. He destroyed the temples that housed the prostitutes. He cleaned HOUSE.He diligently sought to please God and remove sin from the land . He sought wise counselors and studied the word of God. He re-instituted the Passover. The Passover was not even celebrated in the time of King David.

We have had politicians that have tried to rectify what leaders before them did wrong, or failed to do. Yet we have not had a leader do everything to ensure that we are not participating in the wicked practice of human sacrifice. The people in the times of the Kings were not much different than our citizens today. The citizens went along with their King. Christians have washed their hands on the debate of abortion in many instances because it became law with Roe vs Wade.

The people in Josiah's day considered much of this idol worship, business as usual. Much of our usual business is intricately connected to abortion. We have to be willing to be uncomfortable in order to provoke change. We have to be willing to be a voice crying out, and demanding justice. Women have to rise up against society telling them they cannot preach, and share their stories. That is true equal rights.

To date, my family has changed their gas provider, bath and body products, seasonings, poultry, sausage, bread, Soft drinks, laundry soap, cleaning supplies and blue jeans. There are channel we will not watch on television. We haven't even done a complete inventory of our house yet.  

My children looked at me bewildered at first, and then we discussed the consequences of continuing on with business as usual. I want to leave a blessing for my children not a curse. We also discussed their sibling in heaven that they never got to meet because of my sinin abortion. They understand. I have discussed my abortion with them before, and although I have received forgiveness, it doesn't make it any easier for me. It still is uncomfortable to see beautiful children that adore their mother look almost in disbelief that she could be capable of doing that to one of their brothers or sisters. It is by the grace of God, I am who I am today, and I have to testify of that so others cans see the power of God.

Does Idol worship still happen today?

Well, let's see.......Are you willing to give up Disney and Pepsi? What about your favorite cleaning supply? Will you go to the hassle of changing phone companies and or banks?

Josiah was just a youth when he started to give his all. We can do the same.

Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did--with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.
